Ryan's Graduations

Well, it is big news around here......Ryan graduated from high school and seminary. In fact, he had perfect attendance in seminary this past year. He had a fabulous home school teacher, Vicki Hillier, and his tremendous seminary teacher, John Chandler. Both of these people were so instrumental and truly believed in him. He needed that because there were times we didn't know if he would graduate. He did. Enough said.

His high school graduation was held at the Memorial Auditorium on Sunday. We weren't thrilled about it being on a Sunday, but he needed to have that experience. We were so blessed to have my sister and her family, my parents, the Potts family, and a few of Ryan's friends, David & Sydney, all attend. I don't think it was because they just wanted to ditch church either! My brother and his wife were busy doing his bishop, busy church things. It was really nice ceremony, but as usual, blow horns were going off, screaming, yelling, inapproriate walks across the stage, inappropriate gestures, etc....you know, the usual graduations. That same night, we attended seminary graduation where quiet testimonies were shared about the scriptures, beautiful music played and sung, and wonderful friends appropriately dressed. What a contrast. The church's area seminary and institute director spoke and I will never forget a quote he strongly encouraged the graduates to follow....."Just because it is right, doesn't mean you have the right to do it." Need I say anything more?
